Dovey can be found canoeing, climbing, caving, walking, biking… and the list goes on.
He is multi-skilled and can turn his hand to anything if given the opportunity. Ian is particularly well qualified in climbing and canoeing. He holds his Mountain Instructor Award and various high level Canoe and Kayak Coaching awards.
Ian has recently become a father which hasn’t slowed him down. He takes his son out with him on lots of new adventures and literally shows him the ropes!
Des started kayaking in his teens, and enjoyed the freedom and adventure of the sport.
Growing up in Wiltshire he would spend many evenings and weekends paddling on a local river exploring and developing his skills. He completed the Devizes to Westminster race as a junior, and plans to go back as a senior one day. Going out in the surf introduced him to controlling a kayak in a dynamic environment and the inevitable capsizes proved a good foundation for whitewater kayaking, where he enjoys the challenge of running and playing on the rapids. This led back to the sea where he discovered rapids could be found on tide races around the coast and an interest in the power of the tide led to becoming a regular surfer on the Severn Bore.
Having gained a great deal from kayaking Des is keen to introduce others to the sport, he has led expeditions, coached technical skills and taught new instructors.
Katie is qualified as an outdoor instructor and has been working in Cornwall and Devon instructing children in a range of adventurous activities. She has been instructing groups in Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Surfing and Stand Up Paddle Boarding to name just a few.
Katie spends most of her time out walking and exploring new places as well as bouldering and trad climbing whenever she gets the opportunity. Katie also loves swimming and spends a lot of time in both the pool and sea.
Katie hopes that her cool, fun and enthusiastic approach to instructing and teaching outdoor activities will help encourage younger people to get more involved with the outdoors.
James loves coaching both land and water based activities, taking people out on adventures and enjoying nature.
A keen paddler, he is at home in anything that floats – sometimes even boats with holes in them! Out on the water he can usually be found with a big smile on his face.
James enjoys going on sea kayaking expeditions to new locations but has come to the conclusion that the South West is best!
When not at home looking after his son, can be found Canoeing, Kayaking, Mountain biking and even Ice Climbing from time to time. He lives and breathes an outdoor lifestyle.
His passion for Kayaking began when he was 11 years old. This passion quickly took a turn from pool and canal kayaking to whitewater, where for many years Ollie travelled up and down the UK and abroad looking for new and more challenging rivers to descend. However, in recent years, he has taken to the often more relaxing and therapeutic side of the sport – Sea kayaking. He enjoys exploring hidden coves, snorkeling remote kelp beds and fishing for Bass and Mackerel, all from the comfort of a kayak.
Ollie is a keen coach and guide, always looking to provide the best experience possible for clients. Whether that be teaching newcomers to the sport, coaching over longer periods of time or simply guiding a group on their first outing, he is always keen and enthusiastic for the day ahead.
We would like to wish all our clients, past, present and future a very happy new year!
